Getting Crafty

Before I begin...this is not a baking post. I know, I know! Since I don't have an "everything" blog (yet), and I really wanted to share this craft, I'm posting it here. So, we'll just say this is a preview for what will come once I'm ready to start a second blog to compliment this one.

Let's get crafty!

I participated in an ornament swap over at The Artsy Girl Connection. First, let me say that it was so fun participating in this, and I cannot wait to do it again this year. One bit of advice, though, if you participate in one, CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER!! I made this mistake. I checked my email every single day, and every day I wondered why I hadn't received anything from anyone. It was in my spam. I didn't realize it until I received my ornament from another lovely blogger. Oops :/ She was very understanding though. Next time, I will get it right :)

So, do you want to make a snowman? You'll need:
White Jingle Bells (from the craft store)
Red, White, and Orange Felt
Red and Black Sequins
Black Acrylic Paint
Red Ribbon
Black Cardboard (or you can purchase a top hat)
Hot Glue

Start with your two white jingle bells and red ribbon. You might also need a needle and thread or hot glue.

Cut a short piece of the ribbon just long enough to connect the two jingle bells. Use a needle and thread to sew the ribbon together. If the ribbon is too long, and the bells are too far apart, just hot glue the ribbon together.

Cut a piece of red felt and a piece of white felt for the scarf. Twist it together so that it looks striped. Hot glue it to the middle (you know, where you pieced the bells together). Cut off the excess felt, and fray the edge with scissors.

Use red sequins for the buttons. The sequins may come pre-sticky, but hot glue them just in case. Do the same for the eyes (but black).

Next, cut a small piece of orange felt for the carrot nose. Hot glue it to the rim of the bell. Then, paint the mouth on with black acrylic paint.

Use black cardboard to form a top-hat. Wrap a red ribbon around the hat for decoration. Before you attach the hat tie a ribbon around the top of the bell, and tie the hook into it. Poke a small hole through the top of the hat, and feed the hook through. Hot glue the hat to the top of the bell in order to hide the ribbon.

Now you're finished! I absolutely loved making this ornament. I almost didn't want to send it off. I guess that's what I get for not making two. Oh well, maybe next year.

Oh, and I promise the next post will be right on target with baking. And don't forget to stop back by on Tuesday for Twitter Tuesdays

Merry Christmas!
