DIY Inspirational Sign

Remember when I made that Personalized Wedding Decor for my little sister for her wedding gift? Well, I also made her another sign. This one was meant to be more inspirational, more like a pick-me-up. She hadn't seen this one yet, though, so I decided to keep it off the blog until she did. I didn't want her to find out about it before I was ready. Now that she's married, though, I can share it with y'all!

I made this one almost exactly like I made the Wedding sign. I did, however, find a better way to make the stencils. This site will help you create your own stencil easy. I used a different site originally, but I literally can't find it now. This new site, though, seems better anyways. There are tons of fonts you can choose from to make it easy to paint pretty lettering.

To get the pretty blue color, I used a light blue Acrylic paint mixed with water. I put a little more water than I actually planned, so it ended up being a slate blue after several coats of paint.

After I printed off the stencils, I used a box cutter to cut them out. Then, I taped them to the board. This way, I could see exactly how the letters would line up, and I wouldn't have to worry about them moving while I was painting.

For the letters, I mixed a little brown with white to make an off-white color. I wanted to make it light yellow, but I surprisingly have every color paint except yellow. I know, right?! So, off-white it was!

I simply painted my stencils in, and voilĂ  - easy as pie!

My sister loved the sign, and she even commented on the color. I was actually kind of surprised. I think she liked it better than she liked the other one. I hope she finds a lot of inspiration from it, too.

So, what do you think?
