Once, we were in Panama City, Florida, and I we passed this cute little roadside ice cream stand. It was so down-homey that I had to have it. They had all sorts of treats. Hubby got a frozen banana, and he loved it! I knew that I had to try and make some.
Hubby and I are doing this whole sugar and dairy free diet, so I was very careful with the type of chocolate I used.
Here's what you need:
Bananas
Pecans
Chocolate Chips (I used sugar free)
Cake Pop Sticks or wooden rods
Cake Pop Sticks or wooden rods
Whoa...only 3 ingredients! This is going to be a super easy dessert.
First, you need to slice your bananas in half. Then, place them on the sticks. Be careful not to push the bananas too far to the side or they will split open.
Make sure your chocolate is melted to a nice thin consistency. If you need to, add a bit of vegetable oil to the chocolate while melting. Either dip the banana pop into the melted chocolate or use a chocolate fountain to cover the banana.
Make sure the chocolate isn't still dripping badly, and dip the banana into pecans (or whatever nuts you use). This give the banana a little texture. Plus, pecans are pretty tasty!
Either use a cake pop stand (or styrofoam) to hold the pops upright and place them in the freezer. If you don't mind flat chocolate, you can also lay them flat on a sheet of wax paper if you don't have a cake pop stand.
Keep them in the freezer for a few hours until the chocolate is shell like. If you aren't going to eat them right away, you can leave them in the freezer until you are ready.
These are very tasty, and a different take on frozen treats. I'm sure you'll love them, and you're kids will think they are super cool!
So what do you think? Will you give these a try?
OMG !!
ReplyDeleteThese look DELICIOUS
I've never tried to make such pops
I'd really like to though :)
You should try it. They are very easy and a great alternative to ice cream.
