Wedding Cookies

Hey there! Sorry I haven't posted in while. My sister got married this past weekend, and not only have I been super swamped, I've been in the land of no internet. Yikes!

While I was there, though, I did manage to complete a few projects to blog about. One of those projects just happened to be this one! I made a few lot of cookies for my sister to give away as favors.

Did I mention I was also in the land of not-so-great lighting, so some of my pictures may not be so hot. Yeah, that was frustrating. 

My sister's wedding colors were purple, pink, and blue, so I tried to incorporate them into the color scheme of the cookies. One problem though - I used Americolor Violet. First, it was blue [What!?]. Then, it turned purple over night. I ended up adding more coloring to the icing trying to turn it blue. That's why my blues are two different colors. 

The dresses were literally the easiest cookies to decorate. I used a #4 tip for the outline, then used squeeze bottles for the inside. If you're not sure about the technique, I'd suggest visiting this blog. 

The purple dresses were still a little wet when I took pics, so please excuse the super shiny look.

I also made wedding dresses. They are basically the same as the bridesmaids' dresses, but I added a little belt using a #2 tip.

I had a double hearts cookie cutter, and I wanted to make them a little more special that just hearts. So, I outlined and filled smaller hearts in white, then alternated the theme colors for the outline. This way, they would look connected, and I could tie in a Just Married sign. I was pretty pleased with how they came out.

If you noticed in the top picture, I also use the double hearts cutter to make a bride and groom. I basically just filled part of the white heart in and connected the other heart by making it look like a groom was standing next to a bride. The little embellishments were actually the easiest part. 

I used the same technique on the wedding cakes as I did the wedding dresses. However, I did switch up the design a bit. I do think I like the belt decoration the best, though.

Even though these took me forever to finish, I think they turned out pretty well. They were definitely a big hit.
