Halloween Popcorn

Hey there! Today's post is all about spicing up that movie watching snack that everybody loves - popcorn! It's a dreary day here in the south, and what's better than sitting on the couch, watching a great Halloween movie [Hocus Pocus, anyone?], and snackin' on some Halloween Popcorn?

If you're like me, you've been walking through Wal-mart and your local grocery store and being bombarded by all the Halloween candy. You've been chanting to yourself "I don't need this candy. I can't buy this candy." You know you are going to give in. I mean, there are still 18 days until Halloween. Why not break the mold a little, and do something fun with that Halloween candy?

This is so easy to make, and because it looks so heavy, you'll eat less candy than you normally would. Oh, and don't forget the Oreos. Everybody loves milk's favorite cookie. Plus, during this time of year, you can get the Halloween Oreos with the orange filling. SCORE!

I didn't want too much going on, so I kept it simple with 4 ingredients. I also wanted to keep with the Halloween color scheme, so I chose Reese's Pieces over M&Ms. Not only do I love Reese's Pieces, they come in those beautiful fall colors.

I originally was thinking about adding a little purple and green to the orange and black, but the only candies I could think of were Sixlets or gummies. I wasn't sure how the gummies would go with the popcorn. So, I didn't want to chance it, although I'm pretty sure it would be ah-mazing. Hubby doesn't like Sixlets (crazy!), so I decided to skip the green and purple.

This is super easy to make. Like I said earlier, it's only four ingredients! Basically what you'll need is:
  • 1 pkg of popcorn - popped. It can be butter or non-butter. I obviously prefer the butter kind. :)
  • 1/2 a bag of Reese's Pieces. I used 1/2 of a 15oz bag.
  • 1 12oz bag of white chocolate chips
  • 1 sleeve of Halloween Oreos

I placed a sheet of waxed paper on a cookie sheet and poured my popcorn onto it. Well, first I made sure I took out all the uncooked kernels. Then, I quartered my Oreos, and strategically placed them on the popcorn. Then, I sprinkled the Reese's Pieces all the popcorn. Then, I picked up the waxed paper and poured the popcorn mixture into a medium sized bowl.

I know what you're thinking. What? Why would you do that? Well, I thought this would be the best way to make sure the Oreos and Reese's Pieces were mixed well without crushing the popcorn.

I then melted the white chocolate in the microwave, and poured it onto my popcorn. Note: I did this slowly, and I mixed the popcorn while pouring.

Well, there you have it - Halloween Popcorn. You can also add you favorite candy into the mix. I bet it would be good with some Kit Kats! Oh, and don't forget to check out my Orange Velvet Autumn Cupcakes. They're perfect for your Fall Festival!

What's your favorite Halloween candy? Let me know in the comments.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!
