Valentines Cookies

It's almost time for Valentines Day, and you know what that means: chocolate, cookies, love! So I skipped the chocolate, but not the cookies. That's right, I made Valentines cookies!

Specifically, I called them love letter cookies, because, well, they look like love letters. I originally wanted them to be "Sealed with a Kiss Cookies", but I knew they was no way I could pipe lips. So, I decided to seal the envelopes with hearts instead. I like to think of the hearts as wax stamps. You know, like you see in movies set way back in the day.

Anywho, lets make them shall we.

You'll need: Wilton Rose gel coloring
                    Royal Icing
                    Rectangular shaped cookies
                    #2 and #4 tips

First (after your cookies cool), You'll pipe a rectangle using the #2 tip and white royal icing. Then, you'll fill the rectangle in with flooded icing. Let it dry completely. Easy Peasy.

When your flooded icing is finished drying, go back to you white piping back with the #2 tip. Pipe diagonal lines from each corner until they connect. You just made an envelope!

Now, color some of the remaining royal icing Rose, and prepare a piping bag using the #4 tip. Draw small hearts at the tip of the envelope flap. Shazam - Love Letters!

Now, you can give your significant other a love letter without actually having to write one.

Happy Valentines Day!
